Sheila is an expert Administrator working in the field of Human Resources for approximately 34 years, assisting injured employees through the California workers’ compensation system. Her understanding of HIPPA laws and assisting injured persons requires empathy, research, and knowledge of California’s Workers’ Compensation Laws. In addition, Sheila is a mother of 3 adult children, one of whom is an adult male with intellectual disabilities, a consumer of the Regional Center for approximately 22 years, and a participant in the California Self Determination Program (SDP).
The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) SDP is remarkably similar to my current Administration experiences that she facilitates daily. In addition, Sheila has attended a variety of SDP training sessions to gain knowledge that has afforded me the skills to assist participants and their families. Sheila agrees that “Freedom, Authority, Support, Responsibility, and Confirmation” are the keys to Self-Determination while ensuring participant inclusion with non-disabled members of the community are the fundamental elements for happiness and productive life.
