Families may ask; what do you know about the Self-Determination Program (SDP)?
Manna Unlimited welcomes all Regional Center consumers and their families interested in participating in the Self-Determination Program (SDP) or already SDP participants to visit our website. Our innovative vendor services are created to support participants with intellectual and social disabilities, autism, and other developmental disabilities. Manna handpicked certified and passionate personnel to assist Regional Center consumers throughout the initial onboarding phase of the Self Determination Program and the foreseeable future of their SDP journey.
My SDP story began with my older brother Terrence, who has intellectual disabilities. He has been a consumer with the South Central Los Angeles Regional Center for approximately 20 years and has participated in traditional services. Although there were consistencies and comfortability with the conventional services, Terry’s curiosity began to grow. We attempted to fulfill his interest as a family and realized our resources were minimal.
Terry is beginning his 2nd year in the Self Determination Program. SCLARC SDP core group approved the developed Person-Centered Plan (PCP), an Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals. He was able to handpick and craft his ecosystem of enthusiastic and empathetic vendors that assisted him with his dreams of personal development and becoming a business owner. Terry is currently building a sense of acceptance within his community while building long-lasting relationships.
Manna Unlimited incorporates a diverse group of vendors familiar with the SDP practices that have the experience and ability to communicate effectively. Our policies and procedures here at Manna Unlimited coincide with the SDP principles. Our vendor resources include but are not limited to, Person-Centered Planning, Independent Facilitator, Personal Assistants, Tutoring, Health & Wellness, Employment preparedness, Job coaching, Micro-business development and management, and Website development. All our support services are home and community-based in settings with non-disabled individuals that provide absolute rights to privacy, dignity, and respect for the participants.
